Obverse: the coin features a map of the European Union in the centre of the obverse, decorated with twelve stars and the denomination "10 EURO". The bottom of the map shows the name of the issuing country in three languages 'BELGIE - BELGIQUE - BELGIEN' and the year '2009'.
Reverse: Portrait of Erasmus of Rotterdam after a painting by H.Holbein. The left side also shows two caricatures by Holbein. These drawings are in old editions of Praise of Folly.
About the coin: This €10 silver coin, issued in 2009, commemorates the memory of Erasmus of Rotterdam, one of the greatest humanists of the Renaissance. The design of the coin is inspired by Holbein's portrait and his cartoons, which are published in back issues of Praise of Folly. The coin is an excellent souvenir for history and culture lovers as well as collectors.
