At the top, 'ПЯТЬДЕСЯТ РУБЛЕЙ' (fifty roubles). The letters 'Au 999' on the left indicate the metal grade and purity, on the right the amount of pure metal and the mint mark.
Reverse: the reverse shows a female athlete performing gymnastic exercises with a bar in the centre, a plant ornament in the bottom right and the date '2008' in Chinese hieroglyphic style in the top left, marking the year of the Beijing Olympics.
