Obverse: Features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. The surrounding inscriptions include “ELIZABETH II”, “AUSTRALIA” and the face value “1 DOLLAR”.

About the coin: Issued by The Perth Mint in 1999, this coin was the first 1 oz silver release in the “Australian Lunar Series I”. It celebrates the Year of the Rabbit according to the Chinese lunar calendar. In Chinese culture, the rabbit is associated with tranquillity, wisdom, caution and good fortune. The reverse was designed by Jovan Radanovich. The coin is struck from .999 fine silver and contains 1 troy ounce of pure silver. Although the maximum mintage was set at 300,000 pieces, only 63,644 coins were actually minted.
