About the coin: Willy Brandt served as the Mayor of Berlin from 1957 to 1966, as the Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs and Vice Chancellor in the Kiesinger Cabinet from 1966 to 1969, and became the fourth Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany from 1969 to 1974. In 1971, Brandt was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his Ostpolitik, aimed at easing tensions and promoting reconciliation with Eastern European countries.
