Obverse: the obverse of the coin features a portrait of Alfred Nobel by Swedish artist Erik Lindberg. (This portrait was featured on the Nobel Prize medals produced between 1901 and 2002.) Around the image is the inscription 'NOBELPRISETS HUNDRAÅRS JUBILEUM'. Nobel Prize Centenary'.
Reverse: depicts an ancient female figure representing humanity seated on a podium with the Swedish national coat of arms. In one hand she holds a copy of Alfred Nobel's will. In the other hand, she holds a laurel wreath raised in honour of Nobel. On the left-hand side, a square shows the value of the coin, '2000 KR', and below the square the date, with the letters E (Eskilstuna, indicating the place where the coin was minted) and B (the first letter of the surname of the Governor of the Riksbank).
