Obverse: The obverse depicts the airplane "Lituanica" flying over the Atlantic Ocean. Below, the transatlantic flight route from New York to Kaunas is shown. At the bottom, there are inscriptions: "LITUANICA", "1933", and "FLIGHT OVER THE ATLANTIC".
Reverse: The reverse of the coin features the issuer's country's coat of arms, which includes the national flower of Niue, Puakenikeni (Latin: Fagraea berteroana), surrounded by circles of ornaments and seashells. All of this is crowned by St. Edward's Crown as a sign of belonging to Great Britain. At the top along the edge is the coin's denomination "TWO DOLLARS FIFTY CENTS", and at the bottom, the year of issue "2023".
About the coin: The heroic flight of Steponas Darius and Stasys Girėnas over the Atlantic in 1933 was one of the first transatlantic flights in aviation history. Although tragically ended, the flight of the "Lituanica" was the second longest non-stop flight in the world (6411 km) and fourth in terms of time in the air (37 hours, 11 minutes).
