Obverse: The obverse features the 2018 Lunar symbol – a dog lying on grass (a German Shepherd with its puppy). At the bottom, the inscription reads “Year of the Dog”, and above the dog the Chinese character for Dog is engraved. On the right side of the coin, the letter “P” is minted, indicating the Australian mint The Perth Mint.
Reverse: The reverse depicts Queen Elizabeth II, who is also the Monarch of Australia. At the top the words “ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA” are engraved, and at the bottom it reads “1/2 oz 9999 Ag 2018 50 CENTS”.
