Around the portrait the name of the country of origin of the coin is embossed 'REPVBBLICA ITALIANA' (Italian Republic).
Reverse: the reverse of the coin depicts waves emanating from radio towers on a peninsula. The coin features the denomination 'L 500' on the left and the centenary dates '1874-1974' on the right.
About the coin: this is a silver coin of 500 lire, issued in 1974 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Guglielmo Marconi, the famous Italian scientist and engineer, one of the pioneers of radio. The coin was designed and engraved by Pietro Giampaoli and Guerrino Mattia Monassi.
