Obverse: the obverse of the coin depicts Lady Liberty walking boldly in front of the sun, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The word 'LIBERTY' is engraved at the top of the coin. The United States Capitol is depicted on the bottom left of the coin and the year of minting on the right side.
Reverse: the reverse of the coin depicts the American symbol of an eagle holding an olive branch and flying towards its nest, where a female eagle is perched with her newly hatched chicks. The words 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA' is engraved at the top. The Latin words 'E PLURIBUS UNUM' (Latin for 'one of many) are engraved on the left-hand side of the coin. The words 'IN GOD WE TRUST' are engraved on the right-hand side of the coin. The technical specifications of the coin are engraved in a semicircle at the bottom of the coin '1/2 OZ. FINE GOLD ~ 25 DOLLARS'. Also below the socket are the small letters MB for the initials of the designer of the coin (Miley Busiek).
