This design reflects the early history of Canada, when the trade in furs and other assets flourished. The vertical rays behind the canoe symbolizing the vastness of the world. The name of the country and the year of issue "CANADA 2017" are engraved on the top of the coin, and the gold fineness and weight "FINE GOLD 9999 1 OZ OR PUR" and the year to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Confederation of Canada are depicted on the bottom of the coin.
