Obverse: The Poblet Monastery complex is depicted with characteristic Gothic architectural elements. The inscription MONASTERIO DE POBLET appears in a semicircle at the top, and ESPAÑA 2026 at the bottom. On the left, the Spanish mint mark is shown.
Reverse: The reverse features the standard design common to all 2 euro coins: a geographical map of Western Europe positioned on the right side of the coin and covering both the inner and outer parts. The inscription 2 EURO is placed at the top of the map, while the number 2 appears against the background of the Atlantic Ocean. The outer ring contains 12 stars, and vertical lines visually connect the upper and lower stars.
About the coin: This coin is dedicated to the Poblet Monastery, one of the most important historical and religious sites in Catalonia, included in the UNESCO World Heritage list since 1991. The monastery was founded in the 12th century and for a long time served as the burial place of the Kings of Aragon. It is one of the largest and best-preserved Cistercian monasteries in Europe, notable for its impressive defensive structure and Gothic architecture. The coin belongs to Spain’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites series.
