Obverse: The obverse of the coin features a document of the Treaty of Rome which was signed on March 25th of 1957 by the six representative states. The background of the document depicts Rome's Piazza del Campidoglio pavement, designed by Michelangelo. This is the place where the Treaty of Rome was signed. Above the document is the inscription "EUROOPPA", with the inscription "ROOMAN SOPIMUS 50 V" at the top and the name of the issuing country "SUOMI-FINLAND 2007" in the lower part. The coin's outer ring features 12 stars of the European Union.
