About the coin: this commemorative 2 euro coin was issued in 2024 to mark the 175th anniversary of the St. Paul’s Church Constitution. Adopted by the National Assembly on 27 March 1849, it represented the first attempt to establish a democratic constitution for a unified Germany and became an important symbol in the history of German democracy. The coin was designed by Berlin artist Bodo Broschat. It was officially issued on 21 March 2024, with a total mintage of 30 million coins struck at Germany’s five mints – Berlin (A), Munich (D), Stuttgart (F), Karlsruhe (G) and Hamburg (J). The edge bears the German motto “EINIGKEIT UND RECHT UND FREIHEIT” – “Unity and Justice and Freedom”.
