Obverse: the coat of arms of the Republic of Latvia is engraved in the center of the obverse of the coin, the year "2013" below. The inscriptions "LATVIJAS and REPUBLIKA" are arranged in a semicircle above and below the central motif, respectively.
Reverse: The reverse of the coin shows from left to right a salmon leaping out of the water, a symbol of Latvia's abundant water resources. The denomination of the coin "20 LATS" is engraved on its bottom.
About the coin: The coin is designed to mark the twentieth anniversary of the lats (1993-2013). The Bank of Latvia commemorates the lats date by issuing a silver copy of the original one-lat coin with a twenty-fold increase in nominal value.
