Reverse: Within a circular frame is the Bummerlhaus, a prominent Gothic building in the town of Steyr. At the top is the date 1973, flanked by two shields. Around the image is the inscription 500 JAHRE BUMMERLHAUS IN STEYR, marking the 500th anniversary of the building.
About the coin: Issued in 1973, this 50 Schilling silver commemorative coin celebrates the 500th anniversary of one of Austria’s finest late Gothic houses – the Bummerlhaus in Steyr. It is struck in .900 fine silver, weighs 20 g, and measures 33.5 mm in diameter. The obverse was designed by Edwin Grienauer, and the reverse by Fritz Tiefenthaler.
