Obverse: The set consists of nine 2016 German euro coins – eight standard circulation coins ranging from 1 cent to 2 euros and one commemorative €2 coin. The 1, 2 and 5 cent coins depict an oak twig, the 10, 20 and 50 cent coins feature the Brandenburg Gate, while the 1 and 2 euro coins depict the German federal eagle. The additional commemorative €2 coin is dedicated to the federal state of Saxony and depicts the famous Zwinger Palace complex in Dresden. All coins in the set bear the J mint mark of the Hamburg Mint.
Reverse: The reverse of the coins features the common European Union design corresponding to each euro denomination. The 1, 2 and 5 cent coins depict Europe in relation to the world, the 10, 20 and 50 cent coins feature a geographical representation of Europe, while the 1 and 2 euro coins show a map of Europe. The designs also feature 12 stars symbolising the European Union.
About the coins: The official 2016 German euro coin set was issued in BU quality and struck at the Hamburg Mint, identified by the mint mark J. In addition to the eight standard circulation euro coins, the set contains the 2016 commemorative €2 coin dedicated to Saxony. It belongs to the German Bundesländer series, in which one of the countrys federal states and a characteristic architectural landmark were featured each year. Saxony is represented by the Dresden Zwinger, one of Germanys most famous Baroque architectural complexes. The set is presented in official German BU packaging.
